The Pride 14U team wrapped up our season this past weekend finishing with a record of 32-9-1.  We shutout our opponent 11 times and allowed only 1 run another 11 times.  We had a goal at the beginning of the season of 30 wins and we achieved that.  That was a very aggressive goal considering we were about to play 42 games over 41 days!!! Quite a great group of girls.  It is important to note that 7 of my girls had played on their high school team this past spring and most of the others played on their junior high teams.  Overall, the high school girls probably played around 70 games between high school and the Pride.  We finished the season going 16-2 in the heat and that is amazing considering how tired all of our girls must have been.  The core group of girls on this team has won 80 games the past 3 years.

Of our 9 losses this year, 6 of them were by 1 run.  We actually held the lead in every one of our losses except 3.  One of our losses was to Triple Play Express....a team that at the time we played them had a record of something like 70 wins and 2 losses.  We lost to them 4-3 in the championship of the McHenry tournament.  Another loss was to another club team.  Another loss was in 9 innings after having a 5-2 lead in the 7th inning to yet another club team.  Another loss was 2-1 in the championship game of the Warren Tournament.

This team is built for tournaments apparently.  They get along great and never really get serious until game time.  Below is how we performed in tournaments:

McHenry Tournament
2nd Place (lost championship 4-3 to the team that was 70-2)

Trevian Tournament
5th place (of 28 teams) - we won Trevian the past 2 years

Grayslake Tournament
Tournament Champs (2 of last 3 years)

Chicago Bandits Tournament
5th place (16 teams)

Vernon Hills Tournament
Tournament Champs (20+ teams) and National Qualifier Bid (TBD)

Warren Wipeout Tournament
2nd Place (20+ teams - lost championship 2-1...great defensive play by our opponent in the bottom of the 7th with runners on 2nd and 3rd)

The overall success of the Pride program across age levels is incredible.  Players and parents from other teams and towns are now coming to try out for the Pride.  We have gone from having 2 teams that started this program 5 years ago to having 2 teams at 10U, 2 teams at 12U, a couple of players short of having 2 teams at 14U this year, and a 16U team.

The Pride 14U players are Maddie Terlap, Jamie Brew, Caitlyn Moran, Brianna Dreschler, Juliana Frusolone, Theresa Curtis, Brittany Brown, Katie Strickland, Sarah Patrzykont, Jenna Kleinofen, Danielle Celeslie and Lauren Tracy.

Thanks to MANY of you who came out to support this group of girls.  It is a special honor to have had the privilege to coach these girls the last 3 seasons.  A huge thank you to my players, their parents and my assistant coaches Strickland, Moran and Terlap.
